Do we need to download an app?
No. The game runs in your phone’s web browser. Open the game link, enter your access code and you’re in.
Is it just watching videos?
No. Every scene is interactive and filmed from your point of view: you become a character of the time, a famous historical figure explains the era, and then gives you a puzzle made for that exact statue, street or building – solved with the game’s interactive artefacts and your own eyes on the spot.
Do we need mobile data?
Yes. The game plays online and its scenes stream as you go, so you need a phone with mobile data. A charged battery (or a power bank) is a good idea.
Where does the game start?
At Charles Bridge, at the statue of Charles IV by the Old Town Bridge Tower. Open the game there, enter your code and take the Templar oath.
Can we play the tasks from home or a café?
It’s made to be played on the spot: the answers hide in the real places of the Old Town around you – a plaque, a statue, a carving – so you’ll need to be there to crack them.
Why does the game ask for my location?
So the map can show where you are on the way to the next place – the story happens where it really happened. Please allow location for the game in your browser.
When does my code start and how long is it valid?
The clock of your code starts when you first enter it at the start of the game, and it then runs for 4 hours. The game itself takes about 90 minutes (the short one about 60), so there’s plenty of time for a break. An unused code stays valid for 12 months from purchase, so you can play any day you like – or give it as a gift.
Can we play in the evening?
Yes. All the places on the trail are lit at night, so you can start whenever it suits you – an evening hunt through the lamplit Old Town has its own magic.
Can we play on a tablet instead of our phone?
Yes. You can play The Templar Secret on our tablet, with real-life puzzle objects you can hold in your hands. Meet your guide at our office in the Old Town, Platnéřská 88/9, and let them take you through your journey. All set and ready for you. Contact us for more information and availability.
Can we play on more than one phone?
Yes – one code works on up to 2 phones, so a second player can follow along. Coming as a bigger group? Get one code per team (you can buy several at once) and race each other.
How far do we walk?
About 2.5 km on foot through Prague’s Old Town, with a stop at each of the 9 places – a relaxed pace with plenty of time for the scenes and the puzzles.
Do we need to know Prague’s history?
Not at all. At every place a guardian tells their story in an interactive game scene, and the answer hides in the real place around you – a plaque, a statue, a carving. You’ll leave knowing stories from 1307 to 1942 that no guidebook tells.
Is it an escape game?
Think of it as an outdoor escape game with a story you play: puzzles, locks, codes and a clock – but instead of one room you have the whole Old Town of Prague, and the characters of Prague’s history speak to you in the game.
Is it suitable for children?
Kids love the knights, the Golem, the cryptex and the zodiac wheel. We recommend the game from 15 years – younger players from 12 are very welcome with an accompanying adult.
What happens if we get stuck?
Hints are there when you get stuck – no one is left behind. Each hint costs a little time, so using the clock wisely is part of the game.
Can two groups play against each other?
Yes – with rival teams you race each other: rivals appear on the map for the first 30 minutes, you can send messages between teams, and photo challenges join the game – take minutes off your time or trade them for Templar curses to slow the others down. The battle is ordered separately and uses special codes we set up for you (the code from the website is for a one-team game) – tell us when you’re playing and we prepare your rival game and moderate it remotely.
What do we take home?
Your team’s certificate at the end of the game – with your name, the date, your final time and failed attempts – and stories of Prague from 1307 to 1942 you won’t find in any guidebook.
